What is Wilderness First Aid (WFA)?

This class is appropriate for all first aid skill levels and for participants ages 14+.  If you and your troop/family like to do outdoor activities within 30 minutes to 8 hours of EMS, then this course is for you.  You'll learn how to assess a patient, how to provide first aid for common injuries and illness as well as decision making skills such as stay or go (and how fast to go).    

In this hands-on, scenario-based class, you'll learn:

  • Assessing patients

  • Caring for traumatic injuries such as spine & head

  • Caring for shock

  • Caring for breaks, strains, burns, cuts

  • Caring for environmental injuries and medical emergencies

Class is 2 days (16 hours) and costs $30 per participant.  Attendees must have a valid FA/CPR/AED certificate to become WFA certified.
