What is a Pinewood Derby?
The Pinewood Derby is an event that allows girls to build and race their own cars down a track. The track has 6 lanes and each car participates in 6 heats - one for each lane - against other cars. It is a timed event so the fastest times win. Check out Eagan Service Unit's 2021 Derby to get a feel for how a race works.
The Cars
Cars are weighed and inspected prior to the Derby to make sure they meet Derby guidelines.
Do you need help building a car? We're arranging workshops with the Minnesota Tool Library to learn how to build them. Workshop dates are scheduled for 10/2, 10/30, and 11/6. Times are being finalized.
